Few vegetables are as useful as your average gourd. They nourish us, can be carved into vessels, make great birdfeeders, and are terrific lamp bases. What more could you ask for from a vegetable? I painted this because I felt like saluting gourds the world over for the way they are always there for us. I’m a vegetarian with vegan tendencies, so I appreciate these things. :)
